A screen shot of your computer desktop is a great tool for illustration purposes. If you have to make a point, reproduce an error for review, or for an ehow to article. This is an easy process using built in win
dows editing tools.

Step 1
Get the item you want portrayed on your screen, and make sure it is not covered by any other window.

Press these two keys simultaneously “shift+print screen” key. This will capture your image and places it in the clip board of your computer.

Open windows paint program, usually under Start/ Programs/ Accessories/ Paint

Click on edit in Paint and select paste.

Paste data into paint. You will notice there is more information in here than you need so we must edit this data and only show what is pertinent.

Go to the tool bar icons and select the square dotted outlined box. This will give you the select box, to select text that you want to edit.

Select the text and go to the edit bar once again and select “Cut”.

Go to the “File” command and select “New”, this will ask you if you want to save. You can select No at this point. -
Step 9
Go to edit select paste and your new smaller screen shot will be pasted in.

Save your work in the format you want .bmp .jpg, etc..
