Relaxing on an airplane can be a very difficult task at time. Noisy engines, crying babies, and turbulance are just some of the many common distractions. Here are a few simple steps to fall asleep on your next flight.
Instructions
- Clothing – Wear comfortable, loose-fitting, layered clothing. Bring a sweater and a pair of socks. The cabin temperature is not consistent throughout the flight.
- Food - Bring a lite snack in your carry-on luggage and avoid the in flight meal. The time you spend waiting for the meal will hurt your sleeping efforts.
- Drinks – Bring a bottle of water and drink small amounts. Avoid coffee and alcohol. Alcohol can help you fall asleep initially, but will cause you to use the bathroom frequently.
- Shades - Bring a pair of sunglasses or shades. This can help block out distractions. If you do not wish to be disturbed by the flight attendants write “Do not Disturb” on a piece of tape and put it on your shades.
- Try to fall asleep early in the flight. The G forces cause drowsiness and the oxygen levels are lower than normal during takeoff.
