Kids today have too many activities, too much homework, too many expectations on them. As a parent, we have too much going on as well. Too much work, too many household chores, and too many bills to pay have us not giving the time we need to our kids. Basically, nobody is getting enough “kid” time. Here are some ideas on how to have fun being a kid with your kids.
-
Step 1
Game Night. Get out those old board games and have fun playing one that you haven’t played in a long time. Try Monopoly or Life, Operation or Clue. These games are fun for the entire family.
-
Step 2
Movie Night. Rent a movie that you loved as a kid. Chances are if you liked it, your kids will too. Exposing them to the old movies you watched as a child will mean a lot to them… and you’ll get a chance to relive your childhood. Try movies like Karate Kid, Princess Bride and Ferris Buehller’s Day Off.
-
Step 3
Go to the Park. Remember how you loved to swing and slide at the park when you were a kid? Your kids love it too. Take a ball or a Frisbee and really interact with your kids.
-
Step 4
Bike Ride. If you haven’t been on a bike since you were a child, go get one. Kids love anything they can share with their parents. If they love riding their bikes, go on a family bike ride.
-
Step 5
Bowling. Don’t be concerned that your kids may be too young to bowl properly. Just go and have fun. Your kids will love when you get a strike… and they will love it just as much if you get a gutter ball.
-
Get involved with playing with your kids. You will be surprised at how it will affect every aspect of their life in a great way.
