Conflict is a normal part of any relationship, but there are practical ways to avoid it. Here are some tips to help you avoid conflict in your relationship to keep you together through hard times.

Listen to your partner. Conflict arises from miscommunication and misunderstanding. This is prevented by listening to your partner not only superficially but on a deeper level as well. Pay attention to both words and actions. When talking with your partner, check whether you have understood your partner correctly. Repeat what your partner has said, clarify unclear points, let your partner expand what he has said, etc. If your partner doesn’t want to speak, give him space and talk when he’s comfortable communicating with you.

Spend time with your partner. Not spending time with your partner gives him a feeling that he is neglected, but spending too much time with him makes him feel smothered. The trick is to pay attention to how your partner reacts when you are doing things with him. There are some activities for which he likes your presence, other activities for which he likes to be with other people and times when he wants to be left alone. In times when he likes your companionship, spend quality time, no matter how infrequent.

Respect your partner. You and your partner are in a relationship because you want to meet your needs. The most important of these needs is to feel important. If you don’t respect your partner, be ready for conflict to happen. Respect your partner’s personality, tastes, beliefs, and the things that are important to him.

Respect yourself. Hold yourself in high regard and assert yourself when necessary. Avoiding conflict doesn’t mean you relinquish all control to your partner. If you don’t respect yourself, don’t expect that your partner will respect you. A healthy self-confidence is attractive to all, and this makes you more loveable. A wimpy personality is irritable and invites all sorts of conflict.

Be sensitive. Be sensitive to your partner, but more especially to yourself. Know who you are and why you feel the things that you do. Understanding yourself makes it easier to comprehend other people, especially your partner. Know the things that are important to you. Dhttp://www.goc.vn/wp-admin/post-new.phpoing so guides your actions in your relationship.

Solve problems constructively. Focus on problematic points in your relationship and discuss them with your partner constructively. Choose a time and place that both of you are comfortable with. Build an atmosphere of trust. See each other’s point of view before defending your position. Seek other people’s help if necessary.

Don’t push your partner to change. Your partner’s identity is important to him. If you want him to change for the sake of your relationship, he may lash out and think of leaving. Make compromises. If this is not possible, end the relationship to save plenty of heartache later on.

Don’t promise that you’ll change for your partner. You may not be able to meet your partner’s expectations no matter how hard you try. By being submissive, he’ll lose respect for you and seek a more valuable mate elsewhere. Discuss things rationally and come up with a win-win situation. If you desire to change, do so not by words but through actions and he’ll do the same.

Don’t pressure your partner into loving you. No one wants to be forced to feel an emotion, especially the delicate feeling of love. Let love come naturally; pushing your partner to love you elicits the opposite.

To make a relationship worthwhile, both of you must be happy. If only one person is benefiting in the relationship, or if both of you are suffering, the relationship is sure to be conflict-ridden. Seek a balance in your relationship and constantly renew your feelings for each other.

Learning a new language can be fun and take a lot of effort. Vietnamese is no exception. If you are fluent in other Asian languages, you will be able to pick up the script and pronunciations faster. If you are fluent only in Western languages, it will likely take more time to grasp Vietnamese. Regardless, the best way to learn Vietnamese is to surround yourself with the culture and practice speaking every day.

Instructions

Get involved with the Vietnamese community in your area. Find an Asian cultural center or Vietnamese grocery store. Meet with the local Vietnamese student group or attend a Pan-Asian cultural festival. This will be helpful in learning more about Vietnamese culture and finding people to practice speaking with. It will also provide context for the process of learning the language

Familiarize yourself with pronounciation. Listen to Vietnamese language CDs, music and movies to get a feel for common pronounciations and rhythm of speech. Vietnamese is a tonal language that uses a variety of tones (usually 5 or 6) to express meaning.

Learn Chu Nom. The Vietnamese script uses Chinese-like characters and takes practice for non-natives to learn. Pick up a book of children’s stories in Vietnamese or try online software that uses both audio and visual aids. Many companies offer trial software for free

Practice. Hire a tutor for precise lesson plans and very focused practice. If you are short on money, ask a community member to sit and talk with you in Vietnamese several times a week and offer them dinner as payment.

Visit Vietnam. Though this can be the hardest and most expensive step, spending time in Vietnam is the surest and quickest way to learn Vietnamese. When you are put in a situation where you have to speak the language to communicate basic needs, you learn much quicker. The longer amount of time you spend in the country, the better your grasp of the language will be.

Teaching your children to manage money early in life is as important as teaching them how to tie their own shoes. If they cannot manage money, it will be hard for them to succeed in life, regardless of the occupation they may choose. Follow these helpful steps geared toward pre-school children to teach your children to manage money.

Give chores. A child as young as two years old can learn to be responsible for a chore or two. The younger the age of the child, the more “fun” a responsibility can be. Just as you may work for a certain amount of money per hour at your job, you should pay your child a certain amount of money for each chore that is assigned.

Create rewards. On a piece of paper or poster board, create a chart listing each chore that your child is responsible for. On a daily basis, let your child put a sticker over each chore that he has completed. If a chore is only done halfway, your child should only earn half of the payment. If he has done the job exceptionally well, he should be paid a little more.

Teach money management. Teach your child how to save and how to spend. Perhaps you should have two “piggy banks”. One should be for saving and the other should be for spending. Once your child has reached a certain amount in savings, take her to the bank to open her own savings account. For spending matters, teach her to save her money until she has enough to buy something that she really wants.

Pay debt. As your child gets a little older, teach him about having debt and the importance of paying it off. If he wants to buy a certain toy or game, but doesn’t have enough spending money, let him borrow money from you with the agreement that he will pay you back. Create extra jobs around the house that your child can do in order to “pay you back”. Do not allow him to buy anything else with his spending money until his debt is paid off.

Work ethic. By giving your child chores to be responsible for, you are also teaching him work ethic. If your child does not like to take the trash out, teach him the importance of doing it anyway because of the fact that it is his responsiblity. When he has a job he will not get to pick and choose his responsibilities. Teaching children to do their job without complaining is a huge accomplishment for their future work ethic.

Once your child is around 8-14 years old you can start showing them the importance of saving 10% of their income and donating 5% to charity. This is also a good time to show them they are earning interest on their savings account, encouraging them to continue to save.

Once your child reaches 14-17 years old they are more likely to have some type of significant income. This is a great time for your child to get a part time job, mow lawn for the neighbors or babysit. This is a great time to open a checking account and teach them how to manage a bank ledger as well as how to use a debit card. <Source: eHow.com>

Step:

Get a good dictionary. If you need to, a dictionary to translate between your first language and English is best.

Practice everyday by checking your pronounciation, and learning a few new words.

Listen to people who speak English. If they talk too fast, kindly ask them to speak slower.

Learn the grammar with careful study. A teacher may be best for this.

Talk in English with other speakers, especially those who speak it as a first language.

Think in English when you have learned it well. Translation in your brain can become confusing after certain points.

Read Simple English in your spare time, such resources can be found at the Simple English Wikipedia and books written for young children.

Tips:

Read aloud, so you are aware of how you speak.

If you have English classes in school, listen and study as much as possible. The hard work will reward you with a master of the language.

Warnings:

Learning English requires a lot of practice and determination, so don’t try to learn everything at once, but don’t ever give up!

Focus on pronunciation when you speak, since there are many silent letters in English as in French.

It is harder to learn if you do not speak it as a first language, but if you are determined to learn, you will become very fluent.

The best way to speak English well is to listen to English as much as possible.

Kids today have too many activities, too much homework, too many expectations on them. As a parent, we have too much going on as well. Too much work, too many household chores, and too many bills to pay have us not giving the time we need to our kids. Basically, nobody is getting enough “kid” time. Here are some ideas on how to have fun being a kid with your kids.

Instructions

Step 1

Game Night. Get out those old board games and have fun playing one that you haven’t played in a long time. Try Monopoly or Life, Operation or Clue. These games are fun for the entire family.

Step 2

Movie Night. Rent a movie that you loved as a kid. Chances are if you liked it, your kids will too. Exposing them to the old movies you watched as a child will mean a lot to them… and you’ll get a chance to relive your childhood. Try movies like Karate Kid, Princess Bride and Ferris Buehller’s Day Off.

Step 3

Go to the Park. Remember how you loved to swing and slide at the park when you were a kid? Your kids love it too. Take a ball or a Frisbee and really interact with your kids.

Step 4

Bike Ride. If you haven’t been on a bike since you were a child, go get one. Kids love anything they can share with their parents. If they love riding their bikes, go on a family bike ride.

Step 5

Bowling. Don’t be concerned that your kids may be too young to bowl properly. Just go and have fun. Your kids will love when you get a strike… and they will love it just as much if you get a gutter ball.

Things You’ll Need:

Construction paper

Markers

Internet

Library Card

Teach Kids

Instructions

Step 1

There are many websites designed to encourage young readers. The favorite in my house is bookadventure.com (link at bottom of page) Kids and parents register and children read books and take short quizzes to earn points redeemable for rewards.

Step 2

Here is a picture from our wall
Create a book worm for your little readers. Let them know that book worms are very hungry and when you read a book, it’s like feeding the book worm.
Step 1: Using construction paper cut out one large circle and draw a cute face for your worm.
Step 2: Cut out extra circles to add to the body when you’ve read a book.
Step 3: Write the title of the book and the author on circle and let your children watch their new pet grow!

Step 3

Take your kids to the children section of the library. Let them know that they can pick any books that they would like. You can give them a certain number of books – 10, 15 or whatever you would like your limit to be. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, if your child is interested, go with it! Imagine that this is very much like a shopping spree to your child and what a great way to get them thinking positively about reading!

Tips & Warnings

For the book worm, when writing the title and author on each circle, let your child point out the title and author to you. Older children can read or write it on the worm themselves.

These days children in school are fortunate to have fire drills and fire safety events. Many schools have firefighters come to assemblies to teach the children fire safety. But it is still important to reiterate fire safety in the home and on the streets.

Things You’ll Need:

Telephones

Smoke Detectors

Smoke Detectors

Internet Service Providers

Markers

Poster Board Or Cardboard

Computers

Markers

Instructions

Step 1
Explain to your child that you are going to go over some fire safety lessons and explain the importance of fire safety.

Step 2
Teach your child EDITH – the acronym for “exit drills in the home.”

Step 3
Keep matches, lighters and cigarettes out of the hands of children. Put them in high places where tiny hands can’t get to them – and be sure to tell your kids that matches and lighters start fires and are not toys to play with.

Step 4
Tell your child to find an adult if she sees anyone playing with matches or lighters, and that if she finds matches, she must give them to an adult.

Step 5
Teach your child to call 911 in an emergency. Explain that if she is home and the smoke alarm goes off, she should get out of the house and go to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

Step 6
Take a look at different Web sites that address fire safety. They have games, characters and fun facts for children that make learning about fire safety exciting.

Step 7
Stress fire safety to your children around various holidays, like the Fourth of July and the December holiday season, when fireworks, matches and candles are abundant.

Tips & Warnings

It’s important to explain to your child why she shouldn’t play with matches. If you find your child playing with matches or a lighter, take them away, but also take the time to go over these fire safety rules.

Children copy adults. So if you are lighting matches and smoking or lighting candles, chances are your child will be interested in doing the same. Take extra precautions and teach your child not to play with matches.
